ok, Im getting ready to start rewiring the Camaro and have a couple questions for the experts. First one pertains to the neutral safety switch hereafter referred to as the "NSS".
My Camaro had a Console and HorseShoe Shifter in it when I got it. I havent really paid it much attention until now. The guy I bought my interior from gave me his Shifter since mines kinda melted from the fire. I noticed tonight that the NSS is on the HorseShoe Shifter frame. Mine was on the steering column. it was melted so I ordered a new one a while back thinking Im putting it back on the column. now Im confused. I would have thought that the NSS would only be on the column if it were a column shift Car right?
My Shifter...

the one I was given with the NSS on it...

This might be the missing piece of the puzzle. Second question pertains to the Console/floorshifter itself. looking at the way the cable comes through the floor has me questioning if it was originally not a console/floorshift car to begin with. and this is the way I found it under the console....

Sixty-nine's have a lockout rod from the trans lever to the bellcrank to the column actuating the NSS on the column and for locking the column.
Otherwise, if not running a lockout rod, you will have to mount the NSS on the shifter, like a '68, and lengthen the NSS harness from the column to the shifter fro both starter safety and rev lights. Not a biggy, male & female QD's and lengths of wire, 12GA for the starter solenoid.

Ill have to go through my parts pile but for now I cant remember disconnecting a rod from the steering column to the Trans but I guess it had to be there since the NSS was on the column. that was 5 years ago.

on a happier note... I know I told you guys about the Eagle1 stuff I polished the back bumper with. well the front bumper was even worse. I forgot it was out on the back deck and had been getting rained on for the last 5 years. it turned out awesome too. and when you look at the pics, the bumper is not dusty, I wiped the whole thing down before I started polishing one half. it was just that dull and had that much surface rust on it. and I got new chrome bolts.

btw.... Header Panel, worst idea GM ever had. I spent more time on it than anything. think I took it off and put it back on 4 times. but it was aftermarket so that probably had something to do with it.

You know it's easiest to leave everything loose until you get it all on and lined up and then tighten it down.
