Default engine decoding help plz

Got a bbc here and need some help figuring out what it is and what it was originally outfitted in.

This first number was pulled off the front of the engine just above the timing chain cover:
SS099950833 (best I can tell)

And this second one pulled from rear / driver side of engine:
3916321

And this came off the cylinder head:
3919840

Let me know if other numbers will help that i might have missed and it's location

Thanks

as far as the block rear casting it is a 68 427 2 or 4 bolt main
the heads are 67-69 396,427 rect. port 107 cc chamber heads
not sure how to decode the vin stamp above timming cover maybe others can help?
it sounds like a nice set up you have there 68 impala or corvette set up maybe?

My engine casting numbers book shows: 1968 427, 2/4 bolt main, 385, 390, 400, 430, or 435 h.p. Corvette or passenger car.
Those numbers on the center pad is the partial VIN. Look for a code stamped on a pad in front of the passenger side head. At the end should be 2 letters, with the first of the two letters being an "I". That'll help determine exactly what you have.
By contrast, my Corvette fact book shows it as either the 390 or 400 Corvette block.
And your head casting show as the 435 h.p. (3x2).
Is there an intake manifold on the engine?

Yes, motor is complete with muncie. Intake is dual plane 'gm hi-perf' with what looks like a 'W' centered in a snowflake looking casting on the #1 runner.
I didn't get the wire brush and brake cleaner out, but did find some other casting #'s. One looked something like F16_7, and another like K_2; any idea's. Can get the manifold #'s if it would help identification.

Thanks

What does the "I" identify / stipulate?

I got the stamping off the pad located just above the timing chain cover, but it appears to be just numbers, no letters.

Is it safe to say this drivetrain originally came out of a 68 vette, or is there still some question?

If it did whats the value of something of this sort?

Considering your block casting was used for five different versions, four of which were for the Vette, I'd say odds of that being a Vette engine is 80% or greater.
The "I" is part of the suffix code that should be on the pad in front of the passenger side head. There are a few code variations (I?) depending on what the build was. You need to find that code to know exactly what you have.
Value? It all depends on the h.p. variation, if it's a running engine, or if it's a rebuilder.

Again, didn't get out the wire brush but stampings read (from best I can tell) as follows:

(in a larger 'font') SS most likely, or S8 maybe followed by 09995 0833.

SS 0995 0833

Does this sound right?
