Default Door Hinge Stay Rivet Setting

I would like to hear different ways that you people have used to set the replacement rivet for the door stay detent arm rivet.

The car is painted and want to prevent damage to the area in the door jamb. I was thinking of getting out my old rivet gun from my aircraft days and a bucking bar on the head side of the rivet and air hammer away on the tail side of the rivet. Maybe put some foam in the area to protect the paint.

Please comment...
