Did l make a mistake? I値l take all advice
1st Gen Camaro but I have NO mechanical skills, I致e YouTubed researched, checked with buddies. I just bought a 68 with a 700R4 trans 350zz4 crate motor B&M quicksilver shifter . What problems are common with this setup, everything is running good l just want to be pro active. I appreciate any advice, I知 sure I値l learn fast but for now I知 gonna need some pointers 🤦🏾♂️

Should be a pretty solid set up,the trans is probably the weakest link unless it's had upgrades done to it but still it's not a bad trans in stock form just not as strong as a T-350 or T-400 but that OD 4th gear is sure nice to have.
12 bolt rear ends are stronger than a 10 bolt, what does your car have?
That said a 10 bolt will probably be fine with the motor /trans combo you have.
Put up some pics when you can,we'd love to see your '68.

IMO you want to find an old hotrodder/mechanic. Maybe a guy that owns his own shop. Car shows will be a good place to find him. Start taking the car to him for basic maintenance. That will give him a chance to get to know the car and you. Once he is "your mechanic" he will most likely treat you better and not go for the one time cash grab. As stated above the combination you have could be very bullet proof but that will depend on if he bough a trans that can handle that engine. how is the rear setup and what did he do with wiring.
If the car has original wiring and the trans is from a junk yard and the components on the engine are all China made they you could have a lot of issues in the next few years. .
