Default Dead!

I was going to try to work on my timing issues yesterday. I go into the garage and turn the key to a totally dead car. Parked it in the garage last weekend and minus this timing issues everything else was fine. I HATE WIRING ISSUES! Anyone have any ideas where I should start. Clues; I put my battery charger on it and the yellow light that indicates it is in the charging process would never come on. I put a multi meter on the bat and it was reading low. Do you think I maybe lost my main ground hence the charger not working? I hope the issue isn't under the dash but my tach did oddly just stop working out of the blue 3 weeks ago. Start at main battery to block ground? Thanks fellas

how old is the battery?
is your charger actually working?
is the battery terminals clean/ tight?
brake light stayed on to drain the battery?
glove box light stayed on to drain the batter?
any other accessories left on?

If the charger is good and you connected it directly to the battery posts (in the proper polarity) and the charge light stays off, it is a good indication that the battery has gone open internally and has to be replaced. However, get the battery tested before getiing rid of it.
