Con firming my camaro a an original L30/M20 car

after a lot of research i'm very confident that my camaro is a real L30/M20 camaro. if you look at this link http://www.camaros.org/l30m20.shtml and read it. my camaro has the factory 12 bolt multi leaf springs and it has the little proportining valve under the drivers door. also have the quick ratio steering box and bigger factory sway bar up front. it also had the factory single exaust but i put stock z/28 duals on it. i will have pics up when i have more time, and i dont care most people say . i believe that chevy did make a few ss camaros with 327s in them because you could order a camaro from the factory painted a pontiac color.

SS was an Engine option like Z28 was an engine option. They did not make 327 SS Cars, just like they did not make 350 Z28 cars. Now RS was a trim option, and could be purchased with any engine. They Never Made Any SS from the factory with Less than a 350. Sorry for your hopes. Some one removed the RS badges from your car, and that could come with Any Engine Combo, and installed SS emblems. 30 years in these cars, and trust me, that is the only explanation. I have forgotten a lot about these cars, but that is one thing I remember.

it may not be badged as an ss car from the factory but it still has all of the good suspension parts the ss cars got that you could not get in just an rs car. and they are all orginal in the car. the tranny and back has never been out of the car since it was put in when it was put together in 68. it also still has the corvette proportioning valve that only came on the l30/m20 camaros in 68. and so its a ss car in a plain jane body originally.

That is what the L30M20 was. I have a 1967 L30M20. Be proud of it for what it is. It doesn't have to be an SS to be cool. You know what it is. You know it is a beast in its own right. Those who do not know about it, who cares what they think? All they will really know is that it is a Camaro anyway. You won’t have to convince us of anything; it is a great looking car. I wouldn’t change anything about it. An L30M20 is a rare thing compared to an SS.
If you want a Kick in the head, Look at the Movie Better Off Dead as the Camaro rolls out of the garage, You can clearly see 327 emblems on that car which even in the Restoration pages call it an SS, with the SS350 Grille Emblem Removed. So it is a Common mistake.

they never put the 4p on a 68 camaro tag they stopped it for some reason. here is the quote from camaro research group website on the l30/m20 camaro
"1967 model year saw continued broad use of firewall Cowl Tag codes to identify Fisher Body related options as a body assembly aid, but the first year for Camaro was the last year for this practice. The practice was stopped for the entire 1968 model year."
also i know the rear end is orginal because the the springs shocks are orginal to car. also when i did the rear brakes on it every thing looked undisturbed in the rear. and also the tranny has never been out of the car as well. i just finally greased the front end becase im getting ready for a road trip with it next week and all the ball joints, bushings, springs and shocks are all orginal and in great shape. the more i work on it the more i believe in that the odometer is a correct reading on how good of shape the suspension is on it. the odometer reads 34,500 miles on it. its more the likely 134,500 but the steering and everything is in amazing shape

Here is the page that answers your exact question. It breaks the cars down by the options that came on them.

I am not just messing with him. the emblems are not correct. There should be an SS where the 327 is. Its not a real SS. In fact if it is a RS it would not have the 327 on the front of the fender. It would have the RS. The 327 emblem would only be there if the car was not a RS or SS.
