coil spring question
 

I have a 68 with a small block and stock control arms, and i'm trying to figure out what springs to go with. Its a bit of a custom set up so I can't just pick the 1.5" springs or the 2", and the car never had springs in it when i got it to start with. So I am wondering if some one could get me a measurment from somewhere, maybe from the center of the lower control arm up to the frame and also the springs on that paticular car. That should let me know where abouts i need to go. Any help would be great.

what do you mean "custom set-up", and why would that prevent you from being able to order certain types of springs?

all you have to do, is order springs for a car with a stock small block. if you have A/C, order the "heavy duty" springs

the car has been channeled, im using monte carlo spindles, and the car is likely a few hundred pounds lighter then a stock camaro.

you originally said they were stock spindles?

even if you channeled the body over the frame, that shouldn't make a difference on springs. also a lot of SB Camaros are a lot lighter up front than stock, because of aluminum heads, aluminum intakes and waterpumps, less factory A/C, etc....

so you should still be ok with regular springs, or any aftermarket sport spring. with the channeling, you probably don't want to use a dropped spring because you already have the body drop

actually i said i have stock control arms. I just called Eibach and they gave me a dimension of about 10.4" for the height of there 1" drop springs when the car is sitting idle. So that should put me right where i want to be with about a 5" drop alltogether.
