To buy or not to buy, 1967 RS/SS??

Alright there is a local 67 for sale. Basically just a rolling shell with a 10 bolt and late model Camaro front brakes. NO DATA PLATE but the guy swears it has to be an RS/SS big block 4 speedbecause he found big block springs in it, 4 piston calipers, and it has a 4 speed switch on the firewall. He wants 3500 for it, has a 10 bolt all new front sheet metal, no interior(at all!)and no RS headlights or alot of the trim.

IS IT WORTH IT?

"NO DATA PLATE" Without proofor all the orginal parts does it matter if it was a RS/SS? Ifhe can not prove to you that it is a RS/SS then how can you prove it to someone else. I can't tell you what the car is worth I can just say that the fact he says for sure its a RS/SS will add nothing to the value of the finsihed car.

You really need to focus on how good the shell is. How much work will it take.

I doubt its authentic. No headlights and no cowl tag..... fishy. Anyways, what is the general condition of the car? It might be worht it even though its just a plane coupe.

It could very well be a real RS/SS with a 10 bolt in it. I knew guys that where swaping stuff in first gens in the 70s. The reason I said to check the body carefully is becasue of the details he gave, Even 20 years ago a BB RS/SS was worth money. The only reason the car would be stripped and the cowltag removes is at some point it was deemed not fixable. With the insane prices these shells are bringing I have seen a lot of cars that wheregutted in the 80's and 90's showing up for sale. The car could be twisted, it could have a questionable repair or even rust issues 20 years ago but in most cases there is some reasom they deemed the car a parts car.

Imagine I bought a 4th gen that was hit in the front. I striped the drivelinefor my truck. over the next 10 year I remove every bolt on part and sold it. It sits in the barn for 15 more years and someone tells me that is I slap a used sub frame and sheet metal I could sell it for 3500 bucks. I would do it. Poor guy that bought it would have no clue the car is shaped like a banana. He would not take into account the body line where notright he would just assume they could aligned.

Throw up some pics of this bad boy.

If it was a BB, take a peak at the heater core and heater box. Then compare it to the boxes for the BB cars. Take everything the owner says with a grain of salt. The "it has BB springs" is a BS answer or statement without documented proof.

No data plate? Gotta wonder why. There is no reason it should be missing. Well, no ethnical reason.

Does it have a VIN? Does it have a clear title for the state your in? Is the sellers name on that title and if it's not is the title signed and ready for sale? Make sure it's not a duplicate copy.

How many BB 67's where there anyway? Just thinking out loud to myself......

Sounds fishy to me b/c I am a little cynical...

Are there BB motor mounts in it still?
