And Yes before someone points it out - I'm still getting use the car and missed 3rd Gear in one of the burouts... I'll get better : )

 

Nice. That sputtering it's doing on the top end, is that a rev limiter kicking in?

 

How can u miss 3rd gear with a hurst competition shifter, they practically go in gear by theirself ha ha.

 

I believe so, right know since the engine is still new and only has 500 miles on her I havea 5200 chip in it to protect the engine. I will move it up to 5600 eventually but the 496 is all torque anyway the engine stops making HP after 5300. and TQ peaks a 4000.


Yea I know I missed 3rd... What can I say I'm still getting use the car, I said the cars fast I never claimed to be a any good at driving it...

 

You have an MSD box right? Me too. That's how the rev limiter works, it momentarily cuts spark to alternating cylinders as it reaches the rpm limit, making the engine sound like it's crapping out. What I put on mine is their adjustable dial limiter module that plugs in place of where the rpm pill goes. It's kind of a nifty feature to have. You can even use it as a governor if you're nuts enough to let someone else drive the car.
Oops...missed third eh, and you were taking it kinda easy!
I used to have a different 69 years ago, and I had a problem missing third gear once in a while if I shifted too fast. Of course it never happened if nobody was looking. That was with a Hurst comp. shifter, with new rod bushings too. It was fussy.

 

Ha ha that's pretty cool...It's fun havin a four speed aint it I have the same shifter in my car. I dont have near the ponies though, just a sporty little 355 but it's still fun bangin' gears around the country side. (got a brand new 500hp 406cid goin in this winter) Your ride sounds killer and looks fun.
