Another one~

So, I've found another one to drool over for awhile, and I'm probably gonna go for it this time.

Let's see, here's what I know about the car. It's originally a V8, 3-speed automatic, non-SS, non-RS. California built and the body has 49,000 miles on it. I had taken several pictures of the cowl tag, but none of them turned out to be readable. :/

It was in an accident, however the fender took most of the damage and the extremely minor damage to the cowl (picture attached) will be repaired for me. It's got a 3.73 posi in the back and 5-leaf springs. Subframe needs repair or replacement, which is fine as I would have replaced it either way. OEM rear quarters.

Interior is quite good, mostly just needs some cleaning. And there appears to be very little rust. Underneath is clean, trunk pan needs some love but doesn't appear to have anything fatal, rest of the body appears clean.

And $12,000. Which is still a hell of a lot less than buying a dynacorn body and all-new interior to end up with basically the same thing, and I get a VIN tag to go with it.

Looks pretty good. Does it have a tranny? What Year is it? Trim tag numbers? Have you check the beams inside the rear pillars, they rust pretty often?

Sorry, it's a '69, and it's got no transmission, although it was a 3-speed automatic. I'm not concerned about originality, although I was able to tell it was never an SS or RS. Which is a good thing, I don't have to worry about losing value for it not being "correct"

I checked for rust where I could without tearing anything apart, and where I could see it looks good. I didn't get at the rear pillars, though.

Seems a little high for not having anything from the firewall forward. I paid 14 for mine and it had a complete engine (in need of a rebuild) and tranny (which is fine) plus fenders, headlight brackets, and a few other things. As to 49k miles you can't really tell with older cars. Odometer could have rolled over or been replaced. Offer them 10 or 11

One of the things to bear in mind is that everything costs more in Canada. Without fail. Part of the reason is our money used to be worth a lot less, I think.

I do know this guy; I bought my IROC-Z from him. Haggling isn't something that's gonna be very successful, although I will give a shot at it.

Forgot you were in Canada. That does make a difference. To bad your so far away, I have a radiator support that would fit it but shipping to you would cost more than the part is worth from where I am.

So did you get it?

Saint Ebony 04-19-2010 07:15 PM

Not yet. I have to talk the bank into giving me more money, first. That's the major factor right now, 'cause I wasn't planning on buying one for another couple years :p

We shall see what happens I suppose. Give me another couple days to find out for sure.

Looks like I'm not getting it. The bank doesn't want to lend me any more money without a cosigner.

And I can't think of anybody in a stronger financial position than I am that would be willing to consider.

Oh well~
