aluminum valve covers
Hi folks! Its been awhile since I last posted, but I just bought a set of what appears to be Z28 valve covers for $50 at a garage sale. But I'm not sure. Any help to id them would be cool.
The numbers are as follows and all sets of #s are stacked as follows and on both covers so they appear to be a matching set. Seven fins per cover, Chevy racing flag decal on one of the covers and "drippers" are installed Thanks, Dave.
14025553 L.H. MAG
14025554 R.H. MAG
474208 R.H. ALUM
474207 L.H. ALUM

Just to clarify, the first two sets of numbers are on one cover, and the last two numbers on the other cover? That's a mis-matched set. The 1402's are magnesium covers, used on the 81 & 82 Vette. The 474's are aluminum and were used on 78-80 Vettes. Those 474's may have also been used on the Camaro, would have to double check that.

Thanks guys. These are polished including top edges of fins. The guy I bought them from said they came originals polished out of their GM box. Used minimally. By the info that you have giv'n me it appears late 70's Vette. They have no scratches, just the cork gasket and some oil. should clean up real nice. Will they work on my L48 engine?

yeah they will 68 to when ever they went to the centerbolt design will work. the earlier valve cover will work but they dont have the provesions for the pcv valve or breather/oil fill like later motors have. the only set of small block valve covers that wouldnt work are the 55-early 59. they still had the 2 bolts on top and botton but instead on them being straight across the top bolts were closer together.
early set (note stagered hole location)
late 59 to 80's style (holes straight across from each other)
