Default Aluminium hood?

I'm shopping for a new hood with a 2in scoop and ran across an aluminium one from AMD.

Does anybody have good or bad news on this product?

Here is the link for more info on it:

No experience with that, or any hood on mine for that matter!!
If I had an aluminum hood like that though, I'd be more than half tempted to polish it, instead of paint.

That's what sunglasses are for! I'll have to dig out some pictures I took last year at the local cruise in. A guy had an aluminum body Cobra, and polished it. It looked pretty darn slick, and got more than it's fair share of oohs and aahs.

Never had experience with an aluminum hood, would they be lighter or heavier than fiberglass?

^ i think it would be about the same as fiberglass but i think the aluminum would be stronger because fiberglass hoods are touchy on a metal car. plus i think with aluminum you wouldnt have to run hood pins like you do on a glass hood

Seems true enough, does aluminum have the abilty to hold paint well if primed? I might take that route when I get my SS hood this spring

make sure the bare surface is well sanded and scuffed so that the primer has a good hold on the metal then do the same thing when laying the color down. then cut and buff the color and it should hold fine. i have a late model aluminum intake thats been painted a long time and its help up. it came on a parts motor.
