Default Adding power steering options?

First post on the forum. I've got a 1967 Camaro Convertible that my Mom bought brand new in '67. It was a 327 (replaced with a bored out 307 sometime in the 80's) 3 speed with no power steering. It's been sitting in storage for almost 20 years now and I'm getting ready to throw some parts at her. I'm upgrading to 4 wheel discs and was going to replace all the front steering parts. My question is should I upgrade to power steering before I dump money into new tie rods etc. etc. anyone have any kits they like? I was looking at Camaro Central but have no experience with them. Any thoughts are appreciated, Travis

It's easy to upgrade to p/s. You can add p/s anytime, go for the kit first. I haven't ordered a kit from them but I have ordered other things and never had a problem with anything. Enjoy the car!

Welcome to the site dichdoc....
Get your suspension parts first, like 6t9 stated. The tie rods and drag link should all be the same.
Never ordered from Camaro Central but check around with places like Classic Industries, Rick's or even Matt's Classic Bowties. I had good success with all of them.
Good luck and keep us posted.

Thanks for the responses. I was also going to upgrade to 4 wheel disk brakes. I saw in the fine print on one of the kits that you need "disk brake wheels" will the stock steels fit over the disks temporarily while I'm redoing the car or do I need to drop coin on rims and tires at the same time?

Looks like a set of rims is in your near future.

Well it may depend on what size rims you have now. I believe you can't use a factory 14" Rally wheel on disc's. Maybe someone can back me up on that statement, because I'm not 100% sure, but I can remember selling my 14" Rally's to a guy because he wanted them so bad, only to find out he couldn't use them due to his disc's.

14"s won't fit if those are the originals, which from the sound of it they are. I know it came with 14" wheels originally so it looks like you will be replacing them. Put what you like on it and enjoy the ride.

I had to upgrade my wheels to 15" to clear the disc brakes, I used a CPP brake kit to do the front. You also may want to do the power steering swap at the same time while its all apart.

You can put 14" rally's on it. The offset is different between disc and drum brakes so you won't be able to use your original rims. You may be able to use your original rims by swapping the wheel studs to longer ones and using spacers.
