69 Camaro, is it worth it?
 

So I came across this gentleman selling this Camaro. Doing research, talking to a lot of previous 69 Camaro owners and I was wondering if this is a good buy?

Ya, he showed me a problem spot here and there, nothign major, but just some rust that will need to be addressed. About a quarter size on the door, not huge at all. Might be able to talk him down, definitely like the modern parts in it, though I know it takes from the value. Will this car increase in value over time, given the aftermarket parts?

Looks like a decent car, I'm presuming it wasn't an original Z/28? The paperwork, including the protecto plate, is a good thing to have. The aftermarket parts can always be removed for originality. 570 h.p.? I highly doubt that unless he has dyno results to show. Will it increase in value as is, absolutely. It's not a numbers matching car though, so it will never be a top dollar fetcher.

Oh ok, good to know. Didn't mention anything about dyno testing it, but I'll be sure to ask. As for original Z28 I'm not sure about that either

The Z/28 came with a manual transmission, that one has an automatic trans brake pedal. Wouldn't make sense for someone to change the pedal assembly if converting to an automatic.
Other than NOS (new old stock - expensive) parts found on ebay or craigslist, or good used parts, the other "original" parts you're going to find are aftermarket reproduction, which are like original but generally not as good.

How can you know that? I have a friend that bought a 57 chevy in 1992. He has kept it perfectly and he would be lucky to sell for what he paid for it. If 1st gen Camaros go out of style their valve will crash hard due to the volume. These cars were selling for more money in 2007 then they are selling today. How can any collector type item have an absolute increase in value?

The reality strictly from an investment point of view other things make more sense. However have you tried to drive a pile of gold around?
