Without the original matching engine (the code would tell all) it's going to be hard if not impossible to prove it's a copo car. What makes you think it might be anyway?
All the VIN tells is that it's a V8 car. Nor is the Norwood Ohio plant. 303402 is the body number, nothing to do with the VIN. 76: Daytona Yellow Paint, B: black vinyl top. 05: May, D: 4th week of the month (build date) X11: style trim, but that was available on anything from a base car on up. And it doesn't designate a specific engine package. D80: Air spoiler package. The 140 speedo and the large sway bar could have been added by any previous owner, so it means nothing as far as documentation. Suspicion, maybe. But that's all you have. You need proof (matching numbers or paper documentation) to call it what you think it might be. |
Turned out to be a Jack Douglass car .....

You found some documentation? Jack Douglass was in my neck of the woods...kinda.

Sold the car to Clint Richmond of Waterloo,Iowa. He has owned a number of COPO cars (including the other Daytona yellow Jack Douglass car) ...will be interesting to see it restored when it surfaces again.
