Default 68 RS Vaccum

Hello, for my hidden headlights on my 68 rs/ss, which will give me a better vaccum. From the intake or the carb?

Thanks for any help.

As long as your vacuum source on the carb is below the throttle plates, the vacuum should be about the same (same pull). I'll be converting my RS to electric when the time comes - the boxes of parts I received with the car contained the actuators and vacuum reservoir, and all three were rusted beyond repair

My acutators were toasty and a lot of lines needed to be replaced. I knew if was ever going to be happy with it I just needed to go electric. I installed a retro-electro kit on my 69 RS and documented it.

Great video, milkman! I loved everything but the KC Chiefs t-shirt poking out haha!

One question - The connectors, are those Deutsche connectors? Didn't look like weatherpacks. I did a complete rewire of a street rod a few years ago, and I invested in the special crimpers to do Deutsche connectors, so that would be sweet if they were. I'd not previously heard of this kit (just the Detroit Speed kit that costs a bunch), so I will add this to the list!

Im going to assume based on your comment about the Chiefs shirt your either a Broncos or Raiders fan. Thats ok, as long as we both like first gens your cool with me. lol

Are you referring to the weatherproof connectors for the fuse on the hot wire or the connectors that plug the control box to the motor? Im not sure what a Deutsche connector is.

I will tell you this kit runs about $200 more than the Detroit Speed kit. But heres the plus side. No linkages to adjust and the motors or over engineered bulletproof tested to run over 100,000 cycles (owner told me this) and you will never have to mess with them again.
I think those 2 reasons alone were enough for me to spend the extra $200

Yes, Broncos fan I drove through KC when I picked up my 68, and saw both stadiums (Chiefs and Royals).
Yes, I was referring to the weatherproof connectors - they have a grey body with orange insulators. Looks like the Deutsche connector. I like using them, but the weatherpack connectors seem to go together a little easier. I suppose as long as the connection is protected from wet, either works.
It sounds like the engineering on this kit makes it well worth the additional cost. I'm going to research the Detroit Speed kit a little more, though.

Always good to research. Im part of a group on FB called "First Gen Camaro Connection" that is 5,000 1st gen owners strong and I heard nothing but praise about the product and its durability. Nothing wrong with Det Speed product and no negative comments about them, I just personally liked the linkless motors and the durability factor of the Retro electro kit
