Default 396 Quadrajet ??? which one was right?

l have a 69 396 ss with auto transmission that came with a Quadrajet. Does anyone know the correct carb part number for this? l am thinking 7049200. also as far as dates my car was built 3rd week of april. thanks

I can't help you with anything on this except to say the engine optioncode was L35 and would have cost you an extra $63.20 back then over the base SS.

I do know that a lot of companies have stopped trying to find and restore these carbs. the good news is that is you aren't looking for a 100 point show car, Edelbrock has started reproducing these carbs with the proper finish on them so they do look the part

not doubting you but where did you read that? was it a book or a website? l am finding conflicting numbers with different site/books. thanks Earl

I guess theres going to be conflicting info on most things that are classic. I have the "factory assembly instruction manual' Supposedly what the linemen used and it shows the number as 7029215, close to the first but still conflicts. Also, correct me if I am wrong guys, but isn't an automatic SS396 rare? Or is it one of those 'dealer installed' items.
