1968 CONVERTIBLE weight

So I assume everyone has seen the "how much does my 1st gen camaro weigh?" thread before but i'm having a little bit more trouble figuring it out because mine is a convertible. The reason I'm asking is because I need to know what weight rating of jack stand to buy to lift the car. i'm hoping to avoid having my head smashed in by a falling camaro.

any help is appreciated!

Most are 5000 lbs each static, so use four of them and your at 20K lbs.
Plenty for a 4000 lb 'vert.
But, I'd look for the safety features of the stand.

This is one situation where overkill is better. As you get closer to the max weight of the jack stands you need to worry about the angle the car is sitting and how fast you let the car down on it.

I use these, They are rated 6 ton per pair (most rate per pair) that 3 tons per stand. With a car under 2 tons there is no worries. I know they are china made but they are overkill. Heavier stands tend to lift higher and they have larger bases which gives better stability. I also keep some smaller ones around in case I need small ones but I rarely use them on a assembled car. Maybe a chassis or frame support.

Agree with Gorn as I have a set of four as illustrated in his link.
You have to figure in stands being on the highest setting and on a driveway incline for GOOD support.
