1967 camaro 327 w factory a/c heater core
:icon_hyper:need to replace heatercore need advise on how to do it

Wow, I was looking in my chiltons and it says it deleted this portion since you have to evac the ac lines and that should be done by a pro. Mine is ACless so I never noticed.
For the non AC disconnect the neg on the bat, drain the radiator, remove hoses from the core, remove cables and electric connections from the heater defrost assembly, remove the nuts from the core case studs on the firewall, inside the car remove the case to firewall screws and heater defrost assembly, remove the retaining springs and the core. I dont know how much the AC plays into that, but hope it helps. |
ive heard that you need to pull both the inner outer fender to get access to the core since its behind the a/c stuff. along with what edog2 said

I have replaced two. One with A/C one without. Both times the engine was already removed (thank god). The other way would be to remove inner/outer fender like camaroboy said. Almost impossible otherwise.

You can remove the heater box without removing the outter fender, but it's a battle. I did it on my Camaro, and was able to pull down on the inner fender, then block it in that position while I removed the heater box and core. Then replaced the core and worked the inner fender back into position and bolted it back in. I actually didn't even completely remove the inner fender. Just removed every bolt I could from back to front, until it would drop enough.
