How can this be?

ok so i have a 2010 ss with a haltech intake, richmond 3:73's, and a hurst short throw. I recently dynod my car along with a buddy of mine who owns a 2005 mustang gt. My car made 365 rwhp and 358 rwtq. His made 310rwhp and 320 rwtq (he has intake and 3:73 gears). Later that day we raced from a 30 roll and 60 roll and he beat me both times. we also traded cars just to make sure and i drove his gt and it deffinetly pulled on my camaro. Once we hit about 120 130 ish he was a few cars ahead of me and even right as we both hit it, he pulled a good ammount harder. How is his car faster when mine makes so much more power? Is it due to power at certain rpms?? any help on gettin a bit faster would be awesome. Thinkin about moving up to 4:10's and possibly getting a nitrous kit.

His car weighs about 3,500 pounds, your car weighs more than 4,000 which is the main reason his car is faster. He also has to have more than he's telling you cause a stock s197 gt puts out 270-280 rwhp and no intake alone gains 30-40 rwhp

any tips on shaving some weight then? Hes got an itake an mufflers and an x pipe with no cats. I know he has an sct tuner as well but other than that his car is totally stock hes my good buddy so theres no way he could be hiding anything.

Might wanna rethink the whole he's not hiding anything cause he's my good buddy thing. Anything will help, back seats and maybe passenger seat, carbon fiber, sound deadening, ac and power steering, lighter wheels, lighter suspension components, stereo, etc.

lol he is my neighbor and we went to college together. He is pretty much family the reason i just posted this is becaust i just got my ss 2 weeks ago. before that me and him would cruise in his gt when it was bone stock. lol theres no way he could upgrade without me knowin ;) gueess its mostyl weight differenct which im gonna try to improve on, i wanna spray anyway so once thats installed ill be much happier.

Sounds like you need a tune, exhaust, headers and maybe a cam....the SS's usually spank the stang 3v engines.

the mustangs are fast. No question about it there. But the weight of the new camaro is a lot, stock. The muffler system weighs 60lbs alone, at least. And maybe it's time you change the oil. Having a fresh pan that's full with 8 quarts of syntheic oil really brings out all of your SS's horses. Try a fuel system flush too. Little tweaks like that here and there can add up and make a difference. Turn off your A/C or heat, too.

You guys raced from a roll? Thats what ricers do. I say race from a complete a stop. Even so, you should of beat it. Mustang GT's in 2006 were good for high 13's and low 14's bone stock. You're driving might be terrible, but I'd go with what Shadow stated. Those small things make big differences in unleashing all of your ponies.

He has about 300# less than you (the SS is closer to 3800#) and ANYTHING can happen on the street. If its one thing I have learned form reading these stories, its that the impossible is completely possible on the street.

^^

What you said FD. I can't believe that your buddy with the mods he has would take the 2ss. Makes no sense to me because I see GTs almost eye to eye when I race it with my Balt. (stock of course....)
