BIG QUESTION from a wannabe car guy
Ok, so i've had this 2011 2ss for a few months now...the 6speed one i think it's pretty cool. now i want to start getting more power..step by step...cost is a factor.....
1. if i got that k&n cold air induction...is it as simple as they make it out to be...i.e. just bolt it on?
2. are there any other mods in that price range that would make a noticeable difference

That cold air kit that you bought is about the cheapest that you're going to spend on a horsepower increasing upgrade and it should be pretty easy to install. Most cold air kits are.

You won't get much of a difference in terms of how well the car feels, so don't be depressed when you don't notice a big gain in hp. Usually exhausts, especially headers, provide a good seat-of-pants difference, and they will make that car sound good!
i am in the same boat man. I'm looking for performance mods, and cost is a factor.
I am thinking about going with a camshaft and headers, which would make around 60hp, for about 1500 dollars, not installed. All in all, I would like to get the CAI, headers, catback, and camshaft, all of which would bring my L99 from 350hp (@ the wheels) to about 420 HP (@the wheels)... but all four of those mods will probably cost about 3 grand installed, and that would be a bargin price. DOING THE MATH>>>>> CAI = 350$ Headers = 1200$, Camshaft = 850$, catback = 900

Yes, performance are expensive for these cars. Shadowcat, your Camaro's L99 is equipped with DOD. This shuts off four cylinders at cruising speeds. I think a camshaft change would require that you rid your engine of this feature. I'm just letting you know if you already weren't aware.
K&N was $2-300
FM Catback was ~$600
It dyno'd at 377 here in the Springs. Unfortunatly I didnt get a baseline so I cant tell you how much improvment. The sound is worth it though.

First things to do is always cai. Check ebay there might be some cheaper cai but make sure they route to a place away from heat or you wont notice any difference. If done correctly you might notice a lil dif but when you install headers it will help alot more.
Its weird when people say i wanna build my brand new car but cost is a factor,,, either you can afford the car and mods or you cant, not harping on you just saying, id hate to see you do the k&n and then do a bunch of the boogus ebay chips and crap, just make sure you set a goal, save for it, and get the right parts
