So how's the V6 LSD in Snow/Ice/Rain?
 

So those who have the V6 with LSD, how is it in the Snow/Ice/Rain?

LSD does not do much for snow and ice. Both wheels will slip at the same time and the back end of the car tends to slide toward the low side of the road.

Yea, so I've heard, so I'm curious to hear some real-world experiences... ;-)
Is nobody here driving theirs in the snow/ice?

I've driven my Camaro with an LSD in it for winter for 4 years... I don't have a new one but I doubt it's much different. Usually a LSD is actually more hazardous in the snow (or from my experience anyhow).

Pete has experience with this as well. It's just how a LSD works and it's not gonna change how well your car goes in snow.

My question and point revolves around the fact that the '10 V6 comes with an LSD, and many people are likely to drive a V6 through the winter -- I would. So I just want to hear how well it works out for those who have one in the ice/snow.

Also because I'm considering swapping in an LSD for my '02 V6 in the meantime, but may reconsider if it is truly bad on the winter roads.

I drove my 94 Z28 for about 10 NY winters through ice, snow, sleet, etc. I can vouch that limited slip does very little for you when both rear wheels are slipping at the same time. The best thiing is to get some good real winter tires, and let the idling engine get the car moving with your foot off the gas pedal. If you have high speed summer only tires, just go and park the car. lol

After shopping for Smow tire/ wheel packages, the best deal I've come ip with is thru "tirerack.com" . While I wanted Blizzak's, they are apparently not available for my 2010 1lt .They came up with Pirelli " Scorpian Ice & Snow" 245/50R19 's. With steel rims & delivery,it comes out to 206.00$ a piece minus a "blanket" 50$ discount. 824$, mounted & balance & ready to put on sounded reasonable to me.The Bridgestones "Blizzaks" reviews are about the same as the Pirelli's [ even evceeding traditional studded snow's !!! ]. Plus it'll save your nice rims from salt & calcium chloride. Just another tool in the box against winter for those of us that can't afford a second winter vehicle. Thanks. westmassk

I've got the Blizzard 225/55/R18 on my original 2LT rims. I must say that I'm not sliding as much as some 4x4 trucks I see on the road. Maybe it's just that I'm going real slow, but so far, very happy with them. Heard that narrower tires may be better, still open for discussion I guess.

Melchue,My problem is that I have 19" rims on my 1lt,& I can't find a T & R package for 19" Blizzaks [ I'd really like to spare my factory rims.Also,does anyone know if the Traction control do anything at all to help with a LSD ? Thanks.

I have an LT and with the StabliTrak system I am actually quite impressed with it... you can find some videos on the net about it.. its actually pretty sweet. I have driven it through this past winter and im in MN so we see some pretty harsh winters... didnt have to weigh down the rear either... but remember even though it drives better than expected its still a rear wheel drive car.
