odd symptoms...

so i fixed my last problem to start a a new one... my car is smoking, white smoke when you start it or warm, white smoke....

bubbles in my radiator, at first i figured it could be just air get out from the water pump i reinstalled... but it continues even after ive driven it some...

im not sure what else to look for but from what ive read it sounds like a blown head gasket... does anyone else have any idea what else could be causeing this? any and all help is appreciated.. PEACE

sounds like a blown headgasket to me... get your coolant system pressure tested... also you can use simple ph stick for a pool... anything lower than 8.3 could be caused by exhaust in the coolant (which could explain the bubbling) but could also indicate bad coolant also you could pull the plugs and see if any of them are really clean (when coolant is burned it causes a steam clean effect) check your engine oil if its milky that because of coolant

MOST IMPORTANT DO NOT run the car until you have 100% ruled out headgasket or have gotten it fixed coolant will destroy the bearings in your motor and in turn destroy your engine

would it cause the the cylinder to misfire?

ok thanks for the info.. is it a hard fix? the head gasket?

BasicConcepts Dec 28, 2011 01:39 AM

depends on your skills to me headgaskets are simple could probably do them in 4 hours... to the novice mechanic it could be too hard

i have a pretty good memory when it comes to putting things back together... im kinda syched about doing it myself... i just looked and my oil is not milky but has some water and a foul smell.... ive found some remanned heads for 150 a piece, plus shipping of course... plus a gasket kit for 150.00 so im thinking a weekend and 1100.00 should have this motor tightened up if there arent a bunch of other crap to be fixed... the EGR is the only other code its giving me... so we will see... any special tools or tricks i need besides a torque wrench and beer? thanks for the help i really appreciate your time..
