Go with the V6 unless money is just no issue to you. Your 95 assuming it was a stock Z28 was rated at 275hp 0-60 5.7 and 1/4 mile 14.2. A 2011 V6 is rated at 312 HP 0-60 6.1 and 14.3 1/4 mile.
There is very little difference in performance between a new V6 and an old V8. I use to have a 1978 Firebird with a bone stock Chevy 350 in it that got horrible gas mileage and I am sure my 3.6 5th gen would run circles around it while using half the gas.
Also insurance would be cheaper on a V6.

The 2012 Camaro LS and LT trim level will be getting the LFX engine which is rated at 323 horsepower and 278 ft-lbs of torque. This should give a good bit of power for your money. Also the 2LS is designed to get 30 mpg highway as well while maintaining the power ratings. You've also got the 45th Anniversary package that you could get on the 2LT and 2SS. Another big addition to the Camaro lineup is the ZL1. It will hopefully be out in early 2012. If you're looking into a new Camaro you have a smorgasboard of options before you. The only problem you will have is which one to choose. Happy hunting and I hope you're able to find something that suits you soon.

I say at least get the 2SS. I get to drive them here and there when they come into the dealer, and jeez man, they are one fun car. The power that LS3 puts out definitely makes up for how heavy the car is and more. But the V6 is good as well. It's completely up to you. And like said above, you could get the ZL1 Camaro, but I'm not sure if you want to spend +$100K on it. Might as well get a ZR1 Vette with that money.
