Transmission Fluid Help Needed
I have a 2019 Camaro Convertible 4 cylinder, base model automatic with 43000 miles on it. I recently got a transmission fluid warning, of which I don't recall the exact wording. My monthly On-Star emails don't list it. When I scroll to the transmission fluid screen on the dashboard I see that the fluid is at about 40%. I have noticed so jumpiness lately which may be related. Being older I assumed I could just top off the fluid. That is not the case. The Chevy dealer says to fill the fluid will cost $650 to $1200 depending on the car model and and extra work needed. Seems ridiculous to me, but it is beyond my capabilities. I called our local garage where we usually take our cars. They quoted me $250-$300. No brainer, right. They said they were concerned there might be a leak, since there was no reason it should be losing fluid. I do not believe there is a leak. The car is garage kept and the garge floor is white. There has never been any fluid there, and no smells in the car.
I am looking for guidance on the following:
Is it normal for this model to lose fluid level over time?
Will my independent garage have the expertise to do this work, and if so are there any special things they should be watching for?
If this is not enough information, let me know and I will post the missing details.
Thanks in advance

I'd check with a transmission shop for a quote, the dealer is always going to be way overpriced on any service.
A trans shop will likely be more knowledgeable than your local garage guy and maybe more so than even the dealer.
So I am older and have had many cars that were driven to higher mileages. Is this typical for this car to need the fluid topped off at around 40000 miles? This is a new thing for me so I want to make sure I am doing the right thing. Is the idea here to top it off back to 100% or flush and refill? Are there any associated services needs, like a filter of any sort?
thanks
thanks
I'm older as well, almost 69.
Again I don't think it's wanting fluid topped off it's warning that it's getting near for a trans service which would probably be a flush and fill with a new filter but I don't know these newer cars.
I'd expect it's probably a 50K service thing, check the service manual for details.
