tapshift?
im driving a 2012 v6 and cant tell if my tapshift is working properly, any help would be appreciated
1)the manual says its supposed to downshift to one automatically as i slow down, but it doesn't?
2) i have yet to get a shift denied message, if i shift badly the car revs itself and jerks, is that normal?
3) can i drive in anything over two at low speeds or does it damage the engine?
4) is there a specific speed i should shift gears at? ive been shifting to 2 at 20, 3 at 30, etc as long as im between 2-3k rpms and its smooth. but can i just shift hellla fast into 6th at 20-30 mph to get more performance (without damaging the engine)?
sorry i dont know much about manual and gears so i got lots of questions

1. I would assume it depends how fast you are going. If you are slowing down from 50 to 30, it shouldn't drop right to first gear. In fact, I bet it won't downshift until the rpms are less than 1200 or 1000. Try maintaing a speed, say 30 mph in 3rd or 4th gear, come to a stop without downshifting and then try to start moving again to see if the transmission will shift back to 1st on its own.
2. Can you explain on this more? When you shift badly, how are you doing so? Are you upshifting or downshifting? To me, it sounds like the car is rev matching itself as you are downshifting. This means that the car will blip the throttle to match engine and transmission speeds to appropriately make a downshift.
3. You don't want to lug the engine, meaning you don't want to be in too high of a gear for your speed. I do not think the automatic transmission (even in manual mode) would allow this too much, it would probably downshift on its own if it was going to stall the car. However, you usually only need to be turning 1500 rpms or so to maintain speed.
4. You would need to shift according to how fast you are accelerating. If you are accelerating slowly or moderately, you can upshift sooner. In my stick shift car, I am usually shifting at less than 2k rpm (usually closer to 1700 or so) unless I am accelerating harder. Knowing when to shift based on your acceleration will take time to figure out on your own.

2.yea it definetly happens during a downshift, but i feel like it also happens when i upshift at an rpm too low (shouldn't i just be denied a shift instead of revving up like that)
3. i don't know if it would. i've seen some people say when they put in M and don't touch the paddle shifters the car will automatically drive in sports mode (shifting automatically), but mine doesnt do that either.
4. i would experiment but i'm not sure if this is how tapshift is supposed to work and i dont want to damage the enigine experimenting
another question, i guess i'll just voice all my camaro concerns in this thread, i can switch to manual mode at any speed to drive and vice versa without damaging or stalling right?
and i have a layer of enviroguard (or something like that, its a coat on the inside and outside of car), will putting plastidip be any different than a car without it?
You are still under warranty, yes? If you think its not acting properly, then bring it back to the dealership.
I assume the enviroguard is just the clearcoat? Plastidip shouldn't have any negative effects with it and will last just fine.

yea im under warranty, i just need to schedule an appointment and theyll check it out for me?
