Stick Shift 2nd Gear Grind

there's a big stink on the web about this 2nd gear grind thing on the manual shifts, there vids on youtube

my v6 shifts great, what i'm trying to figure out is, is this problem only with the SS? The LS/V6 is good right?

thanks

All I can say is that I have a SS with 8K and it is at the dealer and they have replaced the second gear synchro's and gears. Maybe picking it up tomorrow. I have not heard any problems with the manual V6. Good luck.

I have grinding problems with by 2010 SS. I was wondering if it was just me not getting the clutch all the way in (to the floor). It seems to happen when not accelerating hard or shifting fast.

What were your symptoms or possible causes?

I have an aftermarket shifter and have also installed a Skip Shift Eliminator on the trans. so I can shift into 2nd at any speed. Not sure if I should remove these to avoid any warranty problems. Any ideas anyone? Oh Ya, I'm in Canada if that makes any difference.

Unfortunately you will have to remove the aftermarket parts so the dealer can't blame it on that. My problem happened mostly cold but did happen when hot sometimes. My problems were Second gear grind and notchy and also 3rd and 4th gear notchy but not grinding. The dealer never could duplicate the condition and I can't falt them for that because it only happened 5 times in 1500 miles but they did take it apart and replaced second, third and 4th gear syncro's and third gear that was torn up. I got the car back and I have to say so far it shifts much better the only thing I noticed was down shift into second was still notchy at times but nothing to worry about. You need to have this fixed under warranty unless you want to spend thousands. Being from Canada is not a issue just make sure that the dealer has a good transmission person because this is a huge job. I asked them if they had done this repair on other vehicles and they claimed that they did only one before mine. Good luck and let me know how you make out. P.S. this should be a recall with all the threads that I have read!
