Default Someone keyed my 4week old Camaro

Ughhhh, so I bought my new black Camaro 2SS 4 weeks ago and noticed today it has been keyed on the passenger side. There are 2 scratches, deep enough so they can't be buffed out. One is 2-3 inches long just under the handle of the passenger door. The other is also 2-3 inches long on the panel before the passenger door.

I took it in to Chevy today and they quoted $1800 to get this properly fixed - basically painting the entire door and panel all over again. I really don't have that sort of money lying around. Does anyone have any good, cheaper alternatives they could suggest?

Any thoughts welcome...
Majorly bummed. Can't believe there are people out there that do this kind of thing.

That sucks, probably just some jealous jackass.

You could probably get it done cheaper at a local body shop or maybe try one of the many scratch remover products.

Call your insurance company, vandalism damage would be covered unless you got some cheapass kind of insurance. Your deductible is what it would end up costing you.

I feel for you..my elderly Uncle had one of the last Cadillac Eldorado's and suffered a stroke and couldn't drive it anymore. So we kept it for him and would pick him up and take him to doctor appointments in it, he loved that car. While picking him up at the rest home and wheeling him to his car we found the whole right side keyed headlight to taillight. It cost $4,100 and the shop manager said whoever did it really leaned into it, people are unbelievably cruel.

Black is probably the worst color to be keyed. Dealer prices are always higher. Try a few local body shops.

Seriously your insurance should cover this, minus your deductable of course. Luckily I have had nice muscle cars all of my life, and never had this happen. But then I dont drive them every day or every where on purpose. Why someone would think doing this to someone elses car is right I'll never understand. Lord help them if I were to catch them doing it.

My Dad's 84 Vette is keyed all the way through down the whole passenger door.

Nice and Red with a huge white mark
