Exhaust question

Hi Guys!

New poster here. I joined here a few days ago. Last week I became the proud owner of a 2013 2SS. I adore this car!

However, it's very quiet. I'd like to do some exhaust work to it. In my research, I found that many of you are changing out factory H pipe and going with an X pipe that also deletes the resonators. I noticed this setup seems to be on the 2010. I'm not sure if mine has the same factory resonator configuration for 2013. I'd get under the car and look, except it's raining here right now.

So I guess I have three questions..

1. Is it recommended to delete either the resonators (if they exist) or the mufflers first before replacing anything?
2. Is there any performance gains from going with an aftermarket X pipe?
3. What axle back systems are you guys using? I know it's a matter of tastes here, but I'm looking for possibly one brand or configuration that stands out.

Thanks guys!

Consider LT headers with hi Flo converters. If willing to tune.

I'm no car guy, but I've been experimenting with bolt-on mods on my 2012 45th AE SS. Most say power gains come from the converters forward, for the most part. If I had it to do all over again, I'd consider long tube headers with high flow converters before changing the factory cat back. But this does require a tune. In my case, I finally put on Solo high Flo converters with a custom cat back, JRE SCT tune and CAI intake and I like it. The hi Flo converters gave the most notable gains (at least by feel). Solo Performance's MACH XL w/ J-pipes is a great system too (no drone and more aggressive exhaust note). If you have an A6 (L99), then be aware that the AFM will become audible and annoying and essentially ruining any exhaust note; hence the tune in my case. Hope this helps.
