2009 Camaro pricing
From an article intodays Detroit News...quotefromby Ed Welburn (design chief for General Motors):
(Per writer Jerry Garrett) Though its Chevrolet HHR has been a modest hit, GM remains a little gun-shy of retro designs. That's after its experience with the slow-selling Chevy SSR pickup, a 2000 concept. But somewhere between the popular concept and production, the SSR's charisma was compromised. The vehicle's original shape was retained for the most part, but its size grew and so did its price.
Welburn's quote:
"The main thing that grew on the SSR was the price" Welburn conceded. "It got away from its original segment. That's one thing we will keep in mind going forward on the new Camaro. There's a difference between styling and designing. It not only has to look good, it also has to be priced right."
Well guys...looks like The General might be starting to figure things out. Maybe our new Camaro's will be the right car at the right price. I've already got my $500 deposit down on a ragtop. I just hope they have a loaded SS model in the range of 400+ hp available at launch. I also hope I can use my brother's GM discount on it. (doubtful....)

RE: 2009 Camaro pricing
By the time it comes out price won't be an issue for me either....at the rate I'm already putting money away it will be a cash deal. Problem is I might need a 2nd mortgage for the garage addition to put it in.
I just thought it was interesting that somebody finally figured out the big problem with the SSR. I wanted one....but not for the money they wanted for it. I sure hav'nt see many on the road. The GTO was agreat deal for the price when they were trying to clear them out, but there was nothing about its appearance that made me lose sleep over wanting one. Obviously however the camaro convertible is a different story. Lets hope the final product looks much like the concept.
Maybe I'll get some info soon...my brother just got called back to work at GM for some kind of special project that they're going full tilt on. I'm hoping its the ragtop project......
