I am quite sure the bellhousings and input shafts are different between the two transmissions.

Right. Well, assuming you know how to work on cars and such...

Yes.  I think I have only heard of a few to actually do this. Most that ask about it are teens that their parents bought the car, and think it will be easy to swap engines...

well i traded a dodge pickup for this car, the body is great, interior is flawless, exept the classic cracked dash...
but its just not strong enough... i got it from a 16 year old kid, so i kind of expected it to be a little rough, but its not at all...
i had a 97 z28 for a couple of weeks, and really enjoyed it, so im kinda tryin to get that back.
i tried for a while to trade my truck or my SVT focus off for a F body, but to no avail...lol

You dont need a new rear end or new tranny. The 4L60E was used in both v6 cars and v8 cars, the bellhousing will be a bit different, and I think you''''ll need a new torque converter, but seeing how you stated you wanted it to be a 6 speed Im guessing you already know you need a new tranny.

Guys, honestly I think we need to be a little nicer to people wanting to swap. Ive seen alot of wrecked z-28s and trans ams in my area and an LT1 with a full wiring harness can be had for about 750$. Its a more viable option to some, and it certain instances can be cheaper if you can find a wrecked donor car.

Im just sayin....

69, nic is just pointing out that by the time you''ve spent the cash for the engine, harness and all of the other things involved not to mention the time spent finding all of this sitting the junk yards you mentioned, you can just buy an LT1 Camaro and more than likely you''ll not spend as much $$$.  If he''s looking for a project and wants to do the swap and has the $$$ to do it then cool.  But most of us will agree that it''s better, prolly cheaper and easier just to get the car already powered by the LT1.  Just my 2 cents.
