the reason your temp used to go down when you turned the AC on is becuase the fans are set to come on if the AC is turned on. So, lets say your cruising at 50mph, there is no need for the fans to be on since there is plenty of air cooling the radiator, so the PCM will leave the fans off, but while cruising at that same 50mph, if you were to turn on the AC, the PCM is programmed to turn the fans on whenever the AC is turned on, no matter what, so since the fans are now turned on, of course your temp guage is going to go down. But now that they are on all the time, your temp is going to be pretty low with the AC off, maybe around the 1/4 mark on the temp guage. so now when u turn on the AC, the temp is going to of course go up, since the fans were already on to begin with and you just put an extra load on the engine. The coolant should not start to leak out of the reservoir until it gets into the red zone. If it is only at half and leaking out, there is something wrong. Do you have the right radiator cap? maybe the radiator cap you have is not keeping the system pressurized, therefore making it boil over at a lower temp. do you have the right mix of water and coolant(50/50)? maybe there is mostly water in the cooling system, which would also make it boil over sooner since water has a lower boiling point than coolant. Maybe its a combination of the two.
