I did my 97 LT1 in about 2-3 hours. I had to remove the fans, radiator, and it is pretty simple from there. Remember there are 6 bolts not 4 like later GM water pumps.

so  you have to remove that. and also be verrrrrry careful when actually taking the water pump off cause there are some o rings and a bearing on the camshaft, that if you damage will leak oil

Psst...guys, LT1 advice for an LS1 car isn''t going to go very far

Most of the advice will probalby still stand, but you may be looking at different times.  I''ve never done a water pump on an LSX...

Again, an LT1 comment...
It took me about 3 hours to do, with a couple short breaks to clean up, and a break to eat pizza.
What''s with you guys and your crazy fans/radiator removal?  I didn''t take any of that stuff out.....
The only things I removed besides the water pump itself were the air pump/bracket and the air intake...
But this doesn''t help with your LS1.  Sorry.

Ya, not sure about the LS1, but it took me about 4 hours on the LT1.
