What's it gonna take?

Shouldnt be too bad with a 5 speed. obviously not what you are getting now. If mpgs is a factor just get beat by a car thats 13 years newer and still get good mpg

Not sure. I haven't dyno'd the car... But I'm thinking I'm around 180-190. Only way I'll have a chance is a ridiculous low gear ratio and race up to about 90.

Car and driver history shows they tested both cars when new in the quarter mile with non-pro drivers. I assume the drivers knew what they where doing. The Mustang was almost 1.5 seconds faster then the 3.4 Camaro. The stick and the gears will help but 1.5 seconds worth? You know as engines wears they lose power? If your car is much over 100K I doubt you ever at stock HP with your boltons. The Mustang in the the Car $ Driver test was an 05 and ran a average of 15.3 seconds. Socom, how fast was your 3.4 when it was done?
It is great to get the right gearing for the 1/4 mile I just don't think its going to make up for 25% more HP and torque.
You have access it a Ipod? can you do a pocket dyno run?

I know age takes a toll on power. That's why I asked you guys for your opinions. I have raced a 2006 v6 mustang with a 5-speed. I won two out of three races because he had a longer shift time than I did. He had literally a second between each gear and I'd always gain in him between his gears.

I ran low 15s on nitrous. So I dont think chaotic has a chance. I could see you winning if you race her in the cold and tell her to turn traction control off :P She'll probably mash the gas and probably spin a lot
