Not trying to knock your driving, but in your video I can hear that you need to work on your speed shifting.....unless you've polished it since then.

3.91 GM gears, so the good thing is they are under warranty.

Knock it all you want, I think that is the part that is sucking right now. I think that is my biggest issue, but if I shift too fast I spin worse. Its like the hand a foot dont talk.

Just read up on speed shifting and you are 100%. I lift off the gas all the way then stab it as I let back off the clutch. I am just nervous to stand on the gas while shifting though, but I guess I will give it a shot. Something has to give (hopefully not the transmission). I see guys in the 12's stock and just dont get it.

So I got that shifting thing down, still best of today was 13.120@106.81, but it is 12.675@110.642 corrected. That being said, had I been bracketing I would have been right on, I guessed I wouldnt break 13.1. So that is pretty good. What was better on that run I had a .000 reaction time, so maybe I should move this to the pro driving section. Nahhhhh not yet.

i used to practice at 1/2 throttle to get more comfortable. we got rev limiters now so not as big a deal if you miss a shift.

I did miss second on my 1st last run. I couldnt leave like that so I ran again. 2nd was getting really tight so it was best that was my last. The trans feels a little smoother since getting the royal purple treatment though.

But ya the rev limiter is a saver for sure, I log most of my runs and since learning how to shift I see 7K max's. I asked my tech and he said the limiter cant stop the inertia of that engine on a dime.

And x100 thanks to 69 for pointing out my shifting deficiency. I got complements from all the Mustang guys there on my shifting talents. Some thought I had an automatic. I did get cocky (in my head anyway) at the end though listening to a guy with a MACH1, but even his buddies were giving him the business.

what about taking out the passenger seat when you're at the track? Floor mats? back seat? every bit helps, remember 100lbs out = .1 faster.

Sounds like you're making good progress for sure

I thought about that, but this last time I had 2 sandbags in the trunk for the first two runs (simulate a full tank of gas) then took them out and it wasnt a difference. I really think I need to get some better rubber. I can not consistently get under 2 sec 60', damn close, but not under.

But ya I think I am getting better, my best last week was 13.12 @ 106.81 on +100 degree track. I corrected it down and it spit out 12.675 @ 110ish. Now I am dying to get back out there in OCT/NOV again.

(Opps, I said that already)

13.1 is not bad at all.

Drag racing is too much fun!
