6.0L GTO vs Modded STi - Camaro Forums

Hey fellas,

Last night I raced my buddies 6.0L 6 speed GTO from 65mph up to 135mph.

Mods on GTO: intake, full exhaust, headers, ported TB, and other miscellaneous mods
Mods on STi: intake, full exhaust, headers, fuel pump, upgraded tmic, and a race gas tune.

1st run: 60-120mph I pulled him by 2 cars he shifted slowly into fourth gear so I pulled
2nd run: 65mph to 135mph I was pulling from 65-115mph or so and then by 135mph he was a headlight ahead of me. Overall it was neck a neck and I was impressed with how my car did. His GTO puts down roughly 390whp give or take.

nice race was the gto a ls1 or ls2? ls2's have a good topend. you should of done one from a dig lol byebye goat

yup.... I wanted to race him from his strong points which obviously are on the highway. The way that i see it... is if I hang up top I can definitely beat him down low.... from lower speeds

All you have to do is get a good launch and hope you make all the right shifts and you may not get walked that much. GTOs dont have the best launch suspension but youve got AWD which arent really drag set ups.

good race, sounds like fun. Those GTOs are quick. Have you got any 1/4 times yet? Sounds like your running mid-high 12s with a decent launch.

Btw, when you list headers, do you mean header? lol jk[:-]

Yeah, header... I have not taken my car to the drag strip b/c I don't race very much and I don't care for drag racing. I occasionally race personal friends for fun... but it's really rare. My car should be in the mid 12's and trapping in the 111-113mph range. I have pulled a couple of 112mph evo's and LS1's before so I'm estimating I'm around there.

A buddy at work has a nice sti. he just got an HKS carbon catback and a stage 2 clutch. One of the mechanics at work has a WRX tho. not sure what all he has done but he put an STI tranny in it. Its pretty quick.

Great car man the STI is a blast to drive but of course you already know this. The LS2 GTO is a deep 13 second car stock she would be faster but her big fault is that it is a little on the heavy side.

yeah to me the gto's a lil like the 350z's they have a ton of potenchal (cant spell wort a ****) but there both over weight just do a cuple of thing to lighin the car and it's perfect..then you can turn it into this....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bQdhcU26tZ4
