I have been researching this mod as well and most of the info I have found has been on FTV6. I love this forum but they have the juice on the 3.4/3500

ROFL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That thread was started by me, I go by alone_and_insane on ftv6 and the Michigan F-Body forum. I was gonna do the 3x00 head swap before I figured out that I could actually insure an LT1. hahaha this is too funny.

You're better off using 3500 (G6/Malibu) heads, rather than 3400 heads. 3500s will lower compression enough for you to still use pump gas (I wanna say 11.5 vs 12.3).

Here's what you will need:
3400 intake manifold (3500 intake manifold won't fit under the cowl, and you'll still have to grind the numbers off the 3400 unit)
3400/3500 lower intake manifold
3400/3500 fuel rail (I believe depending on which lower intake manifold you use)
3500 heads/valve covers
3100 pushrods (think Cavalier/Beretta V6)
Hot cam
One heck of a tune

I believe the timing cover also will need to be slightly trimmed to fit the lower intake manifold. I'd recommend pulling your engine to do this. Once you get the intake manifold off (which is a pain, but not too complicated) and pull the fan/radiator/AC condenser, the engine and transmission actually come out quite easily (no need to separate them).

Sorry I didn't see this thread earlier, I've been really busy lately and haven't been in this section much. I would've jumped all over this before. You have the right idea going to ftv6, there are a lot of guys there who know the swap well and could answer more specific questions than I can.

also, check out http://car-part.com/ to look for those engine parts. The 3500 top end I got cost me about $200 total, I got the heads with about 13k miles for $150.

thats way funny that its you thread ya im gunna get a block out of the junkyard and just rebuild that so i still have a car i want to get all new forged pistons and rods a good cam (what cam would be best i know nothing about them... just how they work) all new bearings pretty much everything but the block and the crank... unless its fcked

also would there be enough of a power increase for the money on 3500 intake manis
i also plan on putting a turbo on this engine i havent heard of a 3400 with a turbo before maybe ill be the first

The 3500 swap should be good for 200-225 hp if I remember correctly. idk about the turbo or cam though, again for that stuff you'd probably be best off talking to the guys on ftv6, they know those engines backwards and forwards.
