And 69er, I wanna know more about this....

 

It's a 69 I bought about 15 years as a resto project. Base engine (300 hp) 4 speed, numbers matching. I gutted the interior, stripped the paint, fixed what needed fixing on the body, and got it painted about 10 years ago. Then other life things got in the way such as additions/remodeling projects on the house, kid's car projects, and kids in general. Every summer has been "this is the summer I'm gonna finish it", and you know how that goes. THIS summer....yeah, that's it!!! We have the parts, we have the technology....just wish I was bionic!

 

yep, I know exactly what you mean. cool story. cant wait to see a project thread pop up that says "69's 69 Corvette". hang in there man.

After over 30 years of either cramped into a single car garage, or building cars in a Costco 10'x20' canopy, I just received the go ahead from the city to allow me to build a great shop! I'm limited to 720 sq. ft., which is a 24'x30' footprint. But I can also build it 35' tall, so it may get an upstairs storeroom too!
I figure if I put a lift on one side, I can double up on cars, and still have about 20'x24' open space, with one car on the lift, and one stored under it. Or two beside each other, and another 24'x15' work area.
I am getting estimates for different styles of buildings now, and will proceed once I choose one. Definitely going with a 16'x8' door, so I can easily enter and not have any issues. Probably late winter, or early spring I hope!

 

18ft eaves will give you enough room for second level. i put a floor in the rafter area for third level storage.

 

Not s 18' eaves and a 2nd floor will give me enough 1st floor room to use a lift properly. Unless the 2nd floor ceiling height is lower than 1st floor ceiling? Might work with a 10' 1st floor, and a 8' 2nd floor. City requires big wind shear changes if I went over 16' high walls on a single level, but not if it's done as two levels.

 

ahh ok, i have a loft with open area in the middle so lots of head room. it would suck i had a complete second floor.
