Any ideas on where to purchase a great affordable blower?

What engine are you considering using? BBC? SBC? Stock? Forged? Balanced? 4-bolt mains? Racing? Picking up chicks? I can make a better-than-amateur recommendation if I knew more about your intentions. Either way, it sounds like fun.

I'm new to all this but just something to take out everyone in awhile but enough to make everyone in the city aware that my ride isn't something to mess with.

And if I put this in I'm going all out on this thing. New cat back, short shifter, intake system, chips, nos, everything that she can handle!

You sound like you have a job. I run a roots style 6-71 on an early small block. I'm sure there are others who can advise you about blowing your LS. I have one from Gene Mooneyham and another 6-71 from BDS. If you were in my vintage ride shop I'd call someone like Whipple or Magnuson and avoid the roots style and go with a screw type. They're smaller, lighter and they certainly make kits for your application.

However, if you want to garner the greatest shock effect; the roots unit will require a hole in the hood and you'll likely have the unit visible from your windshield from the top pulley up. The setup has gotten a lot of attention for my modest rig.

Another tip: google some of the past issues of Hot Rod magazine for the modification you want to make. I think I recall seeing a feature or two on the supercharged LS motor. Although you can close the hood on a screw type compressor, you'll still have the characteristic whine from the belt pulleys. That should make an effective statement.
