I feel like they have something to put in there to deflect water when driving on the street, but I could be wrong

I'm currently running the free ram air mod with that platic piece under the air box completely removed. Weve had snow and ice recently here in Texas, not to mention rain and I've tested by hurtling through snow, slush and puddles to see if the filter got wet. So far filter's still dry. I think it would take a massive gush of water being forced up to get it wet. This needs to be verified but I've never seen or heard anyone definitively say they had an engine damaged from driving in wet conditions, even through large puddles and had issues.

But has anyone ever actually seen any damage done by driving in wet weather with one of these intakes. All I've ever seen is claims in forums that it could happen. No mention of it actually occurring. The only thing you should be concerned about is the automated car washes that clean the chassis since they could possibly spray up the intake...or if you're in the habit of driving over running sprinklers. Please feel to provide documented proof if I'm wrong.
