Default brakes...stiff or sponge?

taking a poll of how they rest of you guys and gals brakes pedals are, on mine it stops the car, but it isnt a fraction as stiff as my 86 mercury brake pedal. the car stops, but i feel it can get stiffer and have a better stopping feel, how are the rest of yours?

My car ('95 3.4L) stops well, but it isn't nearly as hard as my 88 Mark VII was. That thing jolted you to a stop with a small tap of the breaks. Kinda miss it...

I know a lot of cars that have soft brake pedals. I figure they made ours a bit stiffer mainly because if they were soft like most other vehicles, you'd throw yourself through the windshield lol. I dunno about your Camaros but mine stops on a dime. It's ridiculous...

to check if there is air in the system pump the brakes without the engine running ( so vacuum servo is not in action) if they get hard after like 5 or 6 pumps and the pedal hardly moves the brakes are fine and the soft ish pedel when your car is running is normal. If the brakes dont 'pump up' with the engine off ie, 15 pumps later and the pedel is not rock hard then you have air in the system and you need to bleed it out.

Personally my camaro brakes are spongier than my bmws were but it stops on a 10p piece ( aka dime )

then its fine, dont worry thats just how the car is. Its just to check they are not spongy due to air.

stiff off to hard when running is good

soft off, soft on = air in system
