Got the brake plumbing sorted out today. Had to go to two different places to get the right fittings to finish it. After an unsuccessful test run I made a second trial this evening to "test" the line lock. Took it down to the old industrial area in NE Portland where nobody is around after 6:00 PM. Found a desolate street and got it sitting stright down the middle, then set the brake and turned the line lock on. Hit the throttle and lit 'em up, and just sat there in a cloud of smoke as the car started to work it's way sorta sideways. I released the brake and the Austin leaped forward like it was on wet pavement, so I shifted her to second and it jumped the other way. About that time I decided to shut down and go collect my kidneys. I think it would be best to let off the throttle before releasing the brake next time, might not be so crazy that way.
I also think I'm going to order a momentary pushbutton switch to mount on the steering wheel, or shifter so I don't have to actually switch it off, just release it. I accidentally hit the switch once today and was driving with the front brakes partially on for quite a distance.

Hehe. I was all over in a 81 short box Chevy tonight. I met a dude at the local watering hole up the street and he had a sweet truck outside. I live two blocks away so we cruised up here and looked at the Camaro and BSed for a while. The truck was MEAN. It had 33x19.5s out back and roared through my subdivision. Great guy though, I'm meeting his buddies soon for a tour of their shop and so more fun. I snapped some pics I was gonna post in my progress thread but here ya go. It was a convertible too!

Got back on the Austin project after a 3 day fishing trip. (tough life!) Anyway, I wanted to install a momentary switch on the pistol grip shifter for the line lock. This way I can have a switch to arm it, and a momentary sw. to hold the brakes. Failproof, so I wouldn't accidentally leave it on, or activate it accidentally while driving.
Got a Biondo Racing switch, and after some work with a cutoff wheel in my Dremel, and a grinding wheel, I got a recess cut out to hold the switch. I cut the wiring to the on-off sw. and tied it in. Works great, and it's in a handy location too.

Oh, and here's an off topic pic of my brother and nephew with a day's catch of perch :

Thanks Dave! It's the funnest project I've ever done, and even more fun to drive. Doesn't take much HP to make a little light car like this go very fast, so with around 400 HP it really scoots!

Very cool project. Are you a member of the HAMB by any chance?

Yes, I am, but it's not a place I'd post a project. Guys over there are pretty harsh on people doing projects, and I don't need the grief.

Back on the bodywork again today. Had a crease in the pass. side rear door right through the B/G, so it had to go. Decided since the B/G had to come off I would sand both doors after finishing the bodywork and paint them. Once the doors were done sanding I took the trunk lid apart and removed the hinged license plate frame, and handle off. Sanded it down also and painted everything at once.
Sometime soon I need to tackle the roof, but it's going to be a big deal with everything being done off a step ladder. Might wait awhile before hitting that project.

Week from tomorrow is opening night for the Beaches cruise in, so I want to take it out there if the weather clears by then.

Vall you know you have sparked an interest in gassers for me.
