Default 177 Weiand blower on 454

Hey everyone, is anyone able to assist me with an issue please. I just got myself a new Weiand 177 Supercharger to put on my 454 bbc in my '67 Camaro. The issue is that i can't seem to stuff it under my hood without putting a 6" cowl hood on. I was hoping to put a 4" (max.) hood on, but it aint going to happen. Can someone please give me some good advice as to how i can make this work without chopping the hood. Unfortunately i'm governed by the law to keep it all under the hood.

Thanx,

Clint

And the solution is......put a 6" cowl hood on the car, or a snorkel scoop on a different hood since you don't want to cut yours.
That was easy! You're from Australia, they don't allow the "Mad Max" look?

Hahahahaha, I love the Mad Max comment. Honestly, they only did that for the movie. We get our cars taken off the roads by the cops if anything is sticking out the hood. I bought the 177 coz it was advertised by Holley that it should fit under any Muscle car or truck hood. Man, it's nearly as high as the 671 i just took off. Oh well, i guess it just can't be done. Thanks anyway guys.

What if you moved the motor down?

Default Problem Solved

Well as it stands, I have sorted the issue out. Many thanks to everyone helping out with their advice. I succeeded putting a 4" cowl hood on the camaro with a slight modification. By enclosing the cowl and cutting a hole for the carbie to sit in, I have created an airbox that sucks air from the rear of the cowl through a K&N panel filter. The carbie breather tubes sit 25mm below the cowl allowing enough airflow to make this work. I will post pictures as soon as i take some.
