Have been a lurker for a while and just signed up. I own a 69 z28. I am the second owner and it has been mine for 35 years. After sitting in my garage for 10 years I spent the last 6 months getting it going again, that will not happen again. Just driving it around getting the bugs out.... Happy thanksgiving

I have fixed all the problems except for one. Maybe some one can point me in the right direction. The dome light works with the light switch, but will not work when I open the doors. It worked a couple of days ago, I only noticed it when I was working on the interior and it was dark in the car. I hope somebody can help. thank you

Check with the door jamb switch, then work your way further up if you need to. The switch completes the ground on the - side of the light. Remove the switch, and the wire from the switch, touch the wire end to ground and see if the light goes on. If still no light, you have a wiring or connection issue from there to the light. If the light does work, it's either the switch is bad, the contact points are corroded, or the switch itself isn't making good contact to the body (rust/corrosion). How it all works will make more sense once you remove the switch.

new member-z28-001.jpgfinally done from under the hood.New water pump and hoses , heater core seems to be ok. Replaced fuel lines and mechanical pump and installed backup electrical pump under fuel tank for the hot summer days for vapor locks. New plugs ,wires and distributor parts. Car is running really good.

What happened to the original engine? You might want to rework that rubber fuel hose and plastic filter setup. Anything but steel or aluminum from the pump to carb is a potential chafing, cracking & fire catastrophe.
