Further up the line, both of those red wires are connected to each other. Connecting the red wire from the plug to the stud on the back (both reds together) is a way of making a diy one wire connection.

So do I cut the red wire off the plug and put it on my stud where the big red wire is and from there straight to the battery? Tgen what powers the other wires that are by the battery?

No, leave the wires connected to the plug. The output wire on the stud stays there. Cut and leave a pigtail of the red wire from the plug, and connect that one to the stud as well. You will end up having 2 red wires on the stud, the one that's there now, and the one from the plug.
