I have a 74 Camaro with stock rear end. Upgrades to come are cal tracs and other similar mods ,pretty much everthing except tubbing it out and shorting the axel. That comes later. What I need to know is what is the widest & tallest tire I can fit under it without it rubbing. 15 inch rims is what I'll be running and rim width ? Also what is the average cost.

 

Are you going to put air shocks or something to raise the rear or just leave it at stock height? I have 16" rims with fairly wide tires, but I'm going back to period-correct 15" rims and either 295/50 Radial T/A's or N50's. I've measured the current size tire and width, and as long as I get the correct offset, I should be good, but you need to do some measuring with your car at the height you'll want it to ride at and make sure it won't bottem out with the wider tires on it. One little trick I did was research other exact cars that I had (68 Camaro) and what sizes they had to see if they would fit without modification. Best of luck.

 

15" rims have basically 2 tire choices: Mickey Thompson and BF Goodrich radial Ta's. I just took my goodrichs off. The size I had was 255/60/15. I just changed all 4 to 17's because then you have some great tire choices. Heres what I did:
I just replaced all 4 wheels on my STOCK 1974 camaro. The following fit perfect with no customizing anything. Just bolt em on. Bought all 4 rims from Summit racing about $270 per rim.
Backs are 17" Rim x 9 inch wide with 4.5"back space. Cragar 61cSS Super Sport with Bridgestone potenza RE760 sport tires from TIRE RACK, size 275/40/17

Fronts are 17" Rim x 8inch wide with 3.5" Backspace, Potenza 235/45/17

Awesome mid/low profile tires!! You could go to a slightly taller front but not more than 1 size bigger
