1994 Camaro Steering column swap
Hi to all,I have a 94 camaro, did a steering column swap, with a column from a 98 camaro. Now my camaro wont start, engine doesnt crank over. The column came with the original resistor key from the 98..Does it need a different resister key value,to match my system?

thanks for the reply.I was going to use the theft deterant modual out of the 98 camaro, but its built into the computer modual so not doable.I know my key from the 94 is a #7 resistance.so if I get another #7 and cut it to fit the 98 cylinder it should work? right now I have the yellow/black wire on tdr relay grounded so I can start car.
I'll cut a key and see what happens. Thanks

Hello Everett, I replaced my fuel pump, cranked eng and car fired up,but only for aprox 3 seconds then shut off.I can restart it everytime but same thing, runs only 3seconds.Like I said in previous message,I jumpered the blk/ yellw wire on start relay ( tdr) and now with new fuel pump it runs For 3 Sec.
would this still be due to fact I dont have correct resist key? Or another prob.? There is no security flashing on dash.

First, go here and download 1994 service manual.
https://www.mediafire.com/?40mfgeoe4ctti
Pump relay power is controlled by PCM and controlled by Theft from BCM.
It reads like you are getting initial power for pump relay, but continuous power from PCM is not happening - its not being satisfied - could be by theft, aka, the key.
You can for just to get running purposes, unplug relay and make a #12 AWG male-to-male quick disconnect jumper and jumper BAT power to pump power lead and this will make pump run all the time.

yes i tried jumping across 87 term and 30 of plug to fuel pump relay car still shust off. ater aprox 3 secs.I tried pumping gas pedal or holding it to floor nothing works.
due to fact I swaped my steering column,do you think because the resistor key that came with the 98 camaro column isnt same ohm value would keep it from starting. I know my othe key that fit orig column was a #7 key and this one is a 5 ? I did ground the wire on td relay so it would start.but maybe because key ohms is not set to my system, think this is prob?

Well, problem solved.I took my original resister key and spliced a wire to each side of resister on key.I cut orange loom under dash.spliced those white wires to wires on key, taped it up and secured it under dash.Car now starts and runs good.Quick easy fix.
Thanks for all your help.
