jus thinking about it, can you get to it by taking the power steering bracket off? it's only 2 bolts

Its kinda hard to get to but you have to use an extention and a short socket. If you can try to find a skinny extension so you can fit it in between better.

Mines a 95 so I dont know if there is much a difference.

can u get on the bolt at all? just crank it until it hits the pulley. by that time it should be out of the block, while still inside the pump. but the pump will be free but sealed onto the block. a couple good yanks (or taps witha malet like I did) and it will come off. dunno if this works for lt1, but just a thought

thanks for yalls input. it helped out alot. one last ? though. how do i get the a/c compressor pulley and clutch off? i need to change the clutch bearing and last time i tried it, the tools i rented didn't work. when i put the first tool on, all it did was spin even when i had the accesory belt holding the pulley still. so needless to say i never even got to the next step with the pulley tool.

If you already got your pump off, then sorry for posting late. There are six bolts total, the hardest one is the one behind the power steering pump. You don't need to take that off, what I did was I used a swivel-head extension. Also try putting the socket onto the bolt and then stick the wrench and extension onto the socket, that worked for me. I'n my car I had to remove my air pump and bracket to get the right side middle bolt off, don't know if you'll have to do the same.

his engine has a different pulley configuration. chances are he got the bolts but the gasket was just fused.
