Default Trans mount

Was driving last night and opened it up for the first time in a while and felt a thud under the car like the trans moved and hit the tunnel. So today i jacked the car up and looked at the mount..... Im guessing this is a bad mount, correct?

That gap in the middle is normal, but the side looks like a split. Easiest way to see is by gently jacking up the rear of the trans and seeing if the mount goes it's separate ways. But you can pretty much bet it's split, based on the trans whacking the tunnel. When mine went, I replaced it with a poly mount since they can't separate. Some here though, didn't like the extra vibrations they felt because of the stiffer mount, but mine was minimal. If you experience serious vibrations with a poly mount, you have other driveline issues causing the bad vibes.

yep its all busted up. 10 bucks for a stock one. some of the poly mounts are a different hight changing the driveline angle so watch for that if your gona use one. i use stock, but have tunnel mounted torque bar.

Im just gonna replace it with a stock type for now.

So it definately looks bad to you Craby? The rubber is cracked but i see no splits all the way through. Though i did notice when i jacked the rear of the trans up it seemed like it was gonna seperate from the metal bracket that bolts to the trans.

Yeah it is coming away from both sides when i jack the trans up. I guess thats letting it move too much allowing it to hit the tunnel

make sure the torque bar is solid, only other thing i can think of that would bump in that area.

My trans left a shiner on the tunnel. Sure sign it was doing the popular lift & bang.

Definitely looks busted to me. I just replaced mine over the winter with a stock replacement from O'Reillys. Took all of about 20 minutes to install and half that time was jacking the car up and putting it on jack stands.
