Default tightening vavle?

I have a slight ticking coming from the driverside valves. A guy at a shop told me to pull off the cover and tighen them if it/there loose. I have a feeling that there is specifications on how to do this though.
97,lt1, all stock, 9k miles but sat for a while.

If the car has been sitting it is most likey just a pc of carbor jammed in the pump area of the lifter. Try a seafoam treatment in the oil then chenge the oil to a Synthetic (mobil one) and get a really good filter (I like mobil one filter or K&N).

Adjusting valves because of a little dirt is a mistake that will haunt you.
Oh and never take you car to that shop for anything other then an oil change.

if seafoam and an oil change didnt help you probably have to replace the lifters which is pretty easy just pull the intake and the valve covers loosen the rockers so you can get the pushrods out and use a magnet to pull out the old lifters

if you wanted to do a cam you could id research the crap out of it watch every youtube video there is you could also do a CAI and exhaust both are easier than the lifters then send your pcm to get tuned

keep in mind to do all of this will cost you a lot probably more than 2grand

oil press is between 40 and 60, when its warm at idle it will be a lil under 40 tho. I run full synthetic and oil stabilizer also. It seems to click all the time and ive felt all around the exhaust manifold at start up and when its warm and im not feeling any leaks.
